Work and the City

I read Politics at Royal Holloway, University of London, graduating in 2015, and began in management consultancy before moving into data and insight.

I joined Toynbee Hall, the East End charity founded in 1884, in 2021 as Data Insights Manager, and have been Head of Impact and Data since September 2022. Toynbee Hall leads and convenes Debt Free Advice, the London-wide partnership that has given free, impartial debt advice since 2006.

I lead the partnership's impact and innovation work. I wrote each of its four impact reports and produced the statistics in them.

I managed the project that built MoneyPennie, the partnership's in-house Advisor Intelligence platform. It takes on tasks such as transcription and case notes so that advisers can spend more time with clients, and it supports their judgement rather than replacing it.

I came to the City of London through service rather than family or connections. In 2010 I was named Lord Lieutenant's Cadet and Cadet of the Year for Surrey, and later served as the county's Regimental Sergeant Major and Cadet Under Officer.

The Coopers' Company then had an affiliation with Surrey Army Cadet Force, and each year a cadet could be put forward for apprenticeship to the Master. I was bound apprentice to the Master Cooper in September 2011, at 17.

I was admitted to the Freedom of the Company by servitude in 2016, and to the Freedom of the City and the Livery in 2019. I served as Under Warden and then Upper Warden from 2024 to 2026 and hold no Court office now.

I bring the same approach to the livery as to my work: start from what the institution is for, then find a better way to do it and see it through. Civic service sets out what that has meant.
